IE Business School (Instituto de Empresa) is an independent, educational institution, consistently ranked among the top 15 business schools worldwide. Founded in 1973 by Diego del Alcázar, the school offers a wide range of master s degree programs, executive master s degrees, executive education programs, and a Ph.D. program.
Approximately 1,500 students from over 70 countries graduate from the school each year, while around 3,500 managers undertake 150 Executive Education programs. The student body and faculty represent a large number of nationalities, with 48.5% of professors being of non-Spanish origin. IE currently has a network of 35,000 alumni that hold management positions in some 100 countries.

IE Business School’s 35,000-strong alumni network spread across 100 countries is a direct result of the school’s markedly global outlook at every level. A faculty of more than 400 professors teach students from 73 countries on IE s master, Ph.D. and executive education programs. The International MBA program comprises students from 57 countries, including China, Egypt, Korea, Singapore, U.S., Israel, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Nepal or the Republic of Sierra Leone. Another product of IE Business School’s firm commitment to the internationalization process is a client portfolio with clients like Adecco, Amadeus, Banesto, Daimler Chrysler, Banco Santander, Heineken, Indra Sistemas, Pfizer, Siemens, Skandia, Telefónica or Uralita. IE Business School has a network of representative offices in 15 countries.
IE’s urban campus is located in the heart of Madrid, Spain’s capital and business center, a strategic location that links Europe, the United States and Latin America. IE students also enjoy the benefits of learning and using Spanish, the world’s second business language, and of making contacts with the many corporations that choose Madrid as their European headquarters.
Global partnerships
IE Business School has MBA student exchange programs with over 50 international universities. Moreover IE is one of the founding members of SUMAQ, a network comprising leading business schools in Spain and Latin America. IE enjoys an agreement with Northwestern School of Law, with whom it has launched a Master of Laws, and the Fletcher School at Tufts University, with whom it has implemented a dual degree in the fields of business management and international relations. The school also holds an agreement with the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business to run the Global Senior Management Program (GSMP), aimed at top-level directors and entrepreneurs.
Joint projects in recent years include an agreement with Babson College to run joint executive education programs in the field of entrepreneurship, and the Global Consultancy Program in collaboration with the Wharton School. Furthermore, IE has partnered with the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL) and the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) to launch a dual master’s degree program in Management and Logistics.
Entrepreneurial slant
Founded by entrepreneurs, since its inception IE has embarked on numerous initiatives designed to foster business creation as an engine for growth, value generation, employment and social well-being.
IE’s commitment to entrepreneurship is evidenced by projects like ICEVED-International Center for Entrepreneurship and Ventures Development (http://www.iceved.com), a virtual portal that serves as an interface for 24 international schools, providing a direct line of communication with investors and entrepreneurs. IE’s Najeti Chair in Entrepreneurship and Family Businesses is another clear example of this commitment, undertaking research in the field of business creation and heading the Spanish analysis included in the GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) Report, which studies the relationship between levels of innovation, the creation of new businesses and economic growth worldwide.
All IE students design business plans during the program with the help of a team comprising over 200 external tutors from the business community. As a result, some 25% of the MBA graduates set up their own companies. IE Business School has created the Venture-Lab (V-lab) to provide a support framework for students’ business projects in the form of privileged access to a service pool for business start-ups.

MBA programs
International MBA
IE’s flagship MBA runs for 13 months, from November to December of the following year, and requires full-time commitment. The IMBA 2006 intake comprises 91% international students and 57 nationalities.
The program is divided into five modules. Students with liberal arts or non-science degrees are required to successfully complete the pre-program (available in both online and presential format) covering quantitative methods and financial accounting, to ensure that all students possess the basic quantitative tools needed to embark on the program.
The first period ensures that students with varying academic backgrounds achieve a common level in the skills they will need for their MBA studies in the remaining periods. Typical courses include methodology subjects such as quantitative methods, presentation skills and case analysis, as well as courses covering typical business areas like organisational behaviour, economic environment, financial accounting and marketing. Entrepreneurial Studies is a compulsory course in both the first and second periods. The second period concentrates on the functional areas of business administration while the third takes these to an advanced stage. In the third period special emphasis is placed on implementing actions and strategies in organisations from a more comprehensive and integrative point of view. In the third and fourth period, leading business, academic and political personalities confront students with late-breaking issues from the world of global management and politics in the Global Affairs Seminar. The fifth period of the program offers a detailed analysis of the implementation of strategies and provides students with an opportunity to specialise in specific fields. Students are required to choose a hundred and sixty class sessions from among a series of elective courses on the different aspects of business management including functional areas, skills development, and social and ethical awareness.
The International MBA Program is a bilingual program, with the core program conducted entirely in English and with electives in English or Spanish.
Global MBA
The Global MBA at IE is a blended program that runs for 18 months, using asynchronous online sessions and live interactive video sessions. Participants also attend blended sessions or Community Integration Events at various locations including Shanghai, New York, London or Madrid. Run in English, the class profile of this programs currently comprises 27 nationalities, an average age of 30 years, and students from varying professional and academic backgrounds.
International Executive MBA
The IE International Executive MBA program is a thirteen-month program run in English. It is based on a blended format comprising presential periods in Madrid and Shanghai and periods of online learning. The average age of program participants is 36, and the student body, mostly senior managers, comprises 26 nationalities from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
Master in Management Programs
IE Master in Management Programs comprise a series of degrees options whereby young professionals are trained to meet specific business sector needs: International Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Telecom & Digital Business and Biotechnology Management. Run in English, the aggregate class profile of these programs currently comprises 38 nationalities, an average age of 25 years, 49% women, 51% men, an average of 2 years’ experience and students from varying professional and academic backgrounds. The Master in Management Programs feature periods abroad in cities that include Shanghai, London and Silicon Valley. IE Master in Management Programs partners are Accenture (global), Grupo Telecinco (marketing) Cisco, Nokia, and Telefónica (telecom & digital).
Executive education programs
Overall, there are approximately 3,500 participants per year attending the different open and in-company program offered by this division at IE.
The English edition of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) was created in 2003, and in 2004 the Global Senior Management Program (GSMP) was launched. The GSMP is a joint venture with the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
IE Law School
IE Law School runs graduate law and tax programs for recent law graduates and professionals. All IE law programs include an MBA Module – a component of courses typically offered in business administration programs, including accounting, finance, business strategy and marketing. All programs may be completed in one academic year.
IE Law programs are divided into the LL.M. in Legal Practice, LL.M. in International Legal Practice, and the Executive LL.M. Program with Northwestern University School of Law.
The LL.M. in Legal Practice is better known by its Spanish name and acronym Master en AsesorÃa JurÃdica de Empresas (MAJ). The language of instruction is Spanish, and the student body is made up of 61% men and 39% women, with an average age of 24.8 years. Twelve different nationalities are represented among the student body, with the vast majority from Spain and Latin America.
The LL.M. in International Legal Practice centres on comparative law, the European Union and international practice. Students may choose between a bilingual English/Spanish program (with more emphasis on Spanish domestic law subjects) or a program taught 100% in English and which emphasizes more international subjects. The student body is made up of 54.5% men and 45.5% women. Approximately 33% of the students are from Spain, with the remaining 67% from the rest of Europe, Latin America and the United States. The average age of students in this program is 26.5.
The Executive LL.M. Program is offered by IE Law School in partnership with Northwestern University School of Law. The Executive LL.M program combines intensive on-campus periods in Madrid and Chicago with on-line instruction, to enable working lawyers to earn their LL.M. from Northwestern Law, with the Certificate in Business Administration from IE, in one academic year without leaving their jobs. The student body represents 8 countries, with an average age of 34 years and 7.5 years of professional experience.
Among the graduate tax programs, the LL.M. in Tax Practice is a full-time program open to both law graduates and other professionals interested in issues of business taxation. The LL.M. in Tax Practice for Professionals is for working professionals who want to complete their graduate education in the area of tax while continuing to work. It provides basically the same content in a part-time format while being compatible with professional obligations. The language of instruction is Spanish for both of these tax programs.

IE Business School’s 35,000-strong alumni network spread across 100 countries is a direct result of the school’s markedly global outlook at every level. A faculty of more than 400 professors teach students from 73 countries on IE s master, Ph.D. and executive education programs. The International MBA program comprises students from 57 countries, including China, Egypt, Korea, Singapore, U.S., Israel, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Nepal or the Republic of Sierra Leone. Another product of IE Business School’s firm commitment to the internationalization process is a client portfolio with clients like Adecco, Amadeus, Banesto, Daimler Chrysler, Banco Santander, Heineken, Indra, Pfizer, Siemens, Skandia, Telefónica or Uralita. IE Business School has a network of representative offices in 15 countries.

Global partnerships
IE Business School has MBA student exchange programs with over 50 international universities. Moreover IE is one of the founding members of SUMAQ, a network comprising leading business schools in Spain and Latin America. IE enjoys an agreement with Northwestern School of Law, with whom it has launched a Master of Laws, and the Fletcher School at Tufts University, with whom it has implemented a dual degree in the fields of business management and international relations. The school also holds an agreement with the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business to run the Global Senior Management Program (GSMP), aimed at top-level directors and entrepreneurs.
Joint projects in recent years include an agreement with Babson College to run joint executive education programs in the field of entrepreneurship, and the Global Consultancy Program in collaboration with the Wharton School. Furthermore, IE has partnered with the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL) and the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) to launch a dual master’s degree program in Management and Logistics.
Entrepreneurial slant
Founded by entrepreneurs, since its inception IE has embarked on numerous initiatives designed to foster business creation as an engine for growth, value generation, employment and social well-being.
IE’s commitment to entrepreneurship is evidenced by projects like ICEVED-International Center for Entrepreneurship and Ventures Development (http://www.iceved.com), a virtual portal that serves as an interface for 24 international schools, providing a direct line of communication with investors and entrepreneurs. IE’s Najeti Chair in Entrepreneurship and Family Businesses is another clear example of this commitment, undertaking research in the field of business creation and heading the Spanish analysis included in the GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) Report, which studies the instituto de empresa relationship between levels of innovation, the creation of new businesses and economic growth worldwide.
All IE students design business plans during the program with the help of a team comprising over 200 external tutors from the business community. As a result, some 25% of the MBA graduates set up their own companies. IE Business School has created the Venture-Lab (V-lab) to provide a support framework for students’ business projects in the form of privileged access to a service pool for business start-ups.

MBA programs
International MBA
IE’s flagship MBA runs for 13 months, from November to December of the following year, and requires full-time commitment. The IMBA 2006 intake comprises 91% instituto de empresa international students and 57 nationalities.
The program is divided into five modules. Students with liberal arts or non-science degrees instituto de empresa are required to successfully complete the pre-program (available in both online and presential format) covering quantitative methods and financial accounting, to ensure that all students possess the basic quantitative tools needed to embark on the program.
The first period ensures that students with varying academic backgrounds achieve a common level in the skills they will need for their MBA studies in the remaining periods. Typical courses include methodology subjects such as quantitative methods, presentation skills and case analysis, as well as courses covering typical business areas like organisational behaviour, economic environment, financial accounting and marketing. Entrepreneurial Studies is a compulsory course in both the first and second periods. The second period concentrates on the functional areas of business administration while the third takes these to an advanced stage. In instituto de empresa the third period special emphasis is placed on implementing actions and strategies in organisations from a more comprehensive and integrative point of view. In the third and fourth period, leading business, academic instituto de empresa and political personalities confront students with late-breaking issues from the world of global management and politics in the Global Affairs Seminar. The fifth period of the program offers a detailed analysis of the implementation of strategies and provides students with an opportunity to specialise in specific fields. Students are required to choose a hundred and sixty class sessions from among a series of elective courses on the different aspects of business management including functional areas, skills development, and social and ethical awareness.
The International MBA Program is a bilingual program, with the core program conducted entirely instituto de empresa in English and with electives in English or Spanish.
Global MBA
The Global MBA at IE is a blended program that runs for 18 months, using asynchronous online sessions and live interactive video sessions. Participants also attend blended sessions or Community Integration Events at various locations including Shanghai, New York, London or Madrid. Run in English, the class profile of this programs currently comprises 27 nationalities, an average age of 30 years, and students from varying professional and academic backgrounds.
International Executive MBA
The IE International Executive MBA program is a thirteen-month program run in English. It is based on a blended format comprising presential periods in Madrid and Shanghai and periods of online learning. The average age of program participants is 36, and instituto de empresa the student body, mostly senior managers, comprises 26 nationalities from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
Master in Management Programs
IE Master in Management Programs comprise a series of degrees options whereby young professionals are trained to meet specific business sector needs: International Management, Marketing instituto de empresa Management, Financial Management, Telecom & Digital Business and Biotechnology Management. Run in English, the aggregate class profile of these programs currently comprises 38 nationalities, an average age of 25 years, 49% women, 51% men, an average of 2 years’ experience and students from varying professional and academic backgrounds. The Master in Management Programs feature periods abroad in cities that include Shanghai, London and Silicon Valley. IE Master in Management Programs partners are Accenture (global), Grupo Telecinco (marketing) Cisco, Nokia, and Telefónica (telecom & digital).
Executive education programs
Overall, there are approximately 3,500 participants per year instituto de empresa attending the different open and in-company program offered by this division at IE.
The English edition of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) was created in 2003, and in 2004 the Global Senior Management Program (GSMP) was launched. The GSMP is a joint venture with the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
IE Law School
IE Law School runs graduate law and tax programs for recent law graduates and professionals. All IE law programs include an MBA Module – a component of courses typically offered in business administration programs, including accounting, finance, business strategy and marketing. All programs may be completed in one academic year.
IE Law programs are divided into the LL.M. in Legal Practice, LL.M. in International Legal Practice, and the Executive LL.M. Program with Northwestern University School of Law.
The LL.M. in Legal Practice is better known by its Spanish name and acronym Master en AsesorÃa JurÃdica de Empresas (MAJ). The language of instruction is Spanish, and the student body is made up of 61% men and 39% women, with an average age of 24.8 years. Twelve different nationalities are represented among the student body, with the vast majority from Spain and Latin America.
The LL.M. in International Legal instituto de empresa Practice centres on comparative law, the European Union and international practice. Students may choose between a bilingual English/Spanish program (with more emphasis on Spanish domestic law subjects) or a program taught 100% in English and which emphasizes more international subjects. The student body is made up of 54.5% men and 45.5% women. Approximately 33% of the students are from Spain, with the remaining 67% from the rest of Europe, Latin America and the United States. The average age of students in this program is 26.5.
The Executive LL.M. Program is offered by IE Law School in partnership with Northwestern University School of Law. The Executive LL.M program combines intensive on-campus periods in Madrid and Chicago with on-line instruction, to enable working lawyers to earn their LL.M. from Northwestern Law, with the Certificate in Business Administration from IE, in one academic year without leaving their jobs. The student body represents 8 countries, with an average age of 34 years and 7.5 years of professional experience.
Among the graduate tax programs, the LL.M. in Tax Practice is a full-time program open to both law graduates and other professionals interested in issues of business taxation. The LL.M. in Tax Practice for Professionals is for working professionals who want to complete their graduate education in the area of tax while continuing to work. It provides basically the same content in a part-time format while being compatible with professional obligations. The language instituto de empresa of instruction is Spanish for both of these tax programs.

Joint projects in recent years include an agreement with Babson College to run joint executive education programs in the field of entrepreneurship, and the Global Consultancy Program in collaboration with the Wharton School. Furthermore, IE has partnered with the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL) and the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) to launch a dual master’s degree program in Management and Logistics.
Entrepreneurial slant
Founded by entrepreneurs, since its inception IE has embarked on numerous initiatives designed to foster business creation as an engine for growth, value generation, employment and social well-being.
IE’s commitment to entrepreneurship is evidenced by projects like ICEVED-International Center for Entrepreneurship and Ventures Development (http://www.iceved.com), a virtual portal that serves as an interface for 24 international schools, providing a direct line of communication with investors and entrepreneurs. IE’s Najeti Chair in Entrepreneurship and Family Businesses is another clear example of this commitment, undertaking research in the field of business creation and heading the Spanish analysis included in the GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) Report, which studies the relationship between levels of innovation, the creation of new businesses and economic growth worldwide.
All IE students design business plans during the program with the help of a team comprising over 200 external tutors from the business community. As a result, some 25% of the MBA graduates set up their own companies. IE Business School has created the Venture-Lab (V-lab) to provide a support framework for students’ business projects in the form of privileged access to a service pool for business start-ups.

MBA programs
International MBA
IE’s flagship MBA runs for 13 months, from November to December of the following year, and requires full-time commitment. The IMBA 2006 intake comprises 91% international students and 57 nationalities.
The program is divided into five modules. Students with liberal arts or non-science degrees are required to successfully complete the pre-program (available in both online and presential format) covering quantitative methods and financial accounting, to ensure that all students possess the basic quantitative tools needed to embark on the program.
The first period ensures that students with varying academic backgrounds achieve a common level in the skills they will need for their MBA studies in the remaining periods. Typical courses include methodology subjects such as quantitative methods, presentation skills and case analysis, as well as courses covering typical business areas like organisational behaviour, economic environment, financial accounting and marketing. Entrepreneurial Studies is a compulsory course in both the first and second periods. The second period concentrates on the functional areas of business administration while the third takes these to an advanced stage. In the third period special emphasis is placed on implementing actions and strategies in organisations from a more comprehensive and integrative point of view. In the third and fourth period, leading business, academic and political personalities confront students with late-breaking issues from the world of global management and politics in the Global Affairs Seminar. The fifth period of the program offers a detailed analysis of the implementation of strategies and provides students with an opportunity to specialise in specific fields. Students are required to choose a hundred and sixty class sessions from among a series of elective courses on the different aspects of business management including functional areas, skills development, and social and ethical awareness.
The International MBA Program is a bilingual program, with the core program conducted entirely in English and with electives in English or Spanish.
Global MBA
The Global MBA at IE is a blended program that runs for 18 months, using asynchronous online sessions and live interactive video sessions. Participants also attend blended sessions or Community Integration Events at various locations including Shanghai, New York, London or Madrid. Run in English, the class profile of this programs currently comprises 27 nationalities, an average age of 30 years, and students from varying professional and academic backgrounds.
International Executive MBA
The IE International Executive MBA program is a thirteen-month program run in English. It is based on a blended format comprising presential periods in Madrid and Shanghai and periods of online learning. The average age of program participants is 36, and the student body, mostly senior managers, comprises 26 nationalities from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
Master in Management Programs
IE Master in Management Programs comprise a series of degrees options whereby young professionals are trained to meet specific business sector needs: International Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Telecom & Digital Business and Biotechnology Management. Run in English, the aggregate class profile of these programs currently comprises 38 nationalities, an average age of 25 years, 49% women, 51% men, an average of 2 years’ experience and students from varying professional and academic backgrounds. The Master in Management Programs feature periods abroad in cities that include Shanghai, London and Silicon Valley. IE Master in Management Programs partners are Accenture (global), Grupo Telecinco (marketing) Cisco, Nokia, and Telefónica (telecom & digital).
Executive education programs
Overall, there are approximately 3,500 participants per year attending the different open and in-company program offered by this division at IE.
The English edition of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) was created in 2003, and in 2004 the Global Senior Management Program (GSMP) was launched. The GSMP is a joint venture with the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
IE Law School
IE Law School runs graduate law and tax programs for recent law graduates and professionals. All IE law programs include an MBA Module – a component of courses typically offered in business administration programs, including accounting, finance, business strategy and marketing. All programs may be completed in one academic year.
IE Law programs are divided into the LL.M. in Legal Practice, LL.M. in International Legal Practice, and the Executive LL.M. Program with Northwestern University School of Law.
The LL.M. in Legal Practice is better known by its Spanish name and acronym Master en AsesorÃa JurÃdica de Empresas (MAJ). The language of instruction is Spanish, and the student body is made up of 61% men and 39% women, with an average age of 24.8 years. Twelve different nationalities are represented among the student body, with the vast majority from Spain and Latin America.
The LL.M. in International Legal Practice centres on comparative law, the European Union and international practice. Students may choose between a bilingual English/Spanish program (with more emphasis on Spanish domestic law subjects) or a program taught 100% in English and which emphasizes more international subjects. The student body is made up of 54.5% men and 45.5% women. Approximately 33% of the students are from Spain, with the remaining 67% from the rest of Europe, Latin America and the United States. The average age of students in this program is 26.5.
The Executive LL.M. Program is offered by IE Law School in partnership with Northwestern University School of Law. The Executive LL.M program combines intensive on-campus periods in Madrid and Chicago with on-line instruction, to enable working lawyers to earn their LL.M. from Northwestern Law, with the Certificate in Business Administration from IE, in one academic year without leaving their jobs. The student body represents 8 countries, with an average age of 34 years and 7.5 years of professional experience.
Among the graduate tax programs, the LL.M. in Tax Practice is a full-time program open to both law graduates and other professionals interested in issues of business taxation. The LL.M. in Tax Practice for Professionals is for working professionals who want to complete their graduate education in the area of tax while continuing to work. It provides basically the same content in a part-time format while being compatible with professional obligations. The language of instruction is Spanish for both of these tax programs.
